What affects the final price?

Time of day

Daytime call-outs are the cheapest. After-hours, weekends and public holidays carry a 20–40% surcharge because a technician is dispatched outside normal working hours.

Lock type and brand

A budget cylinder is faster to open and cheaper to replace than a high-security or restricted-key cylinder. Brands like Cisa, Mul-T-Lock and Yale Platinum sit at the upper end.

Distance and traffic

We work across Cape Town and surrounding suburbs. Jobs closer to the CBD, Southern Suburbs or Northern Suburbs are typically faster and cheaper than outlying areas.

Damage on arrival

If a door, frame or strike plate has been forced, additional carpentry or metalwork is quoted on top of the lock work. We always show you the damage before charging for it.

Parts vs. labour

On most jobs about 40–60% of the price is the lock or parts. We carry common stock on the vehicle so there is no second-trip fee for standard cylinders.

Pricing FAQ

Do you charge a call-out fee?
No. The price you are quoted on the phone is the price for the job — there is no separate call-out fee added on arrival.
Will you give me a price before starting work?
Yes. Once the technician has assessed the lock on site, you receive a firm price before any tools come out. If you are not happy with the price, you owe nothing.
Do you accept card payments?
Yes — card, EFT and cash are all accepted on site. A VAT invoice is emailed afterwards for insurance or expense claims.
Why are after-hours prices higher?
An after-hours surcharge covers the cost of dispatching a technician outside 06:00–18:00, weekends and public holidays. It is disclosed up front, never added later.
Can you match a cheaper quote?
If you have a written quote from a registered Cape Town locksmith, share it when you call and we will either match it or explain clearly why our quote differs (usually lock grade or warranty).
